The Hand of the Artist
The pieces left behind by de Jong reveal a man comfortable with the tactile nature of his tools. Whether working on canvas or paper, his approach was grounded in the physical reality of his chosen mediums. His output included a variety of works that have since been catalogued by collectors and auction houses, reflecting a steady hand and a commitment to the visual arts.
His technical range allowed him to experiment with the fluidity of watercolor and the opacity of gouache, alongside the traditional weight of oil on canvas.
