Later Years and Artistic Style
Traub's work as a graphic artist was stylistically influenced by his friend Ferdinand Staeger, and he occasionally created exlibris. He participated in exhibitions at the Munich Glaspalast and exhibited twenty landscape paintings at the Great German Art Exhibitions from 1937 to 1944. In 1939, he was awarded the title of professor.
After losing his belongings in Munich, Traub and his wife moved to St. Märgen in 1941, where he established an atelier. During this period, he frequently painted on chipboard because it was easily obtainable. His landscapes of the Black Forest have been compared to the works of Hans Thoma, and his graphics are noted for a delicate, lively line. He died in St. Märgen in 1955.
