His professional journey saw him become a member of both the Academy of Marseille and the Academy of Paris. A significant moment in his career occurred in 1771 when he was presented to the Dauphin by the Duke of Vauguyon. Following this encounter, he served as the painter to the Dauphin and the Dauphine, remaining in the service of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Later Years and Academic Contributions

In the later stages of his life, Delorge's activities shifted toward the northern regions of France. He spent time in Amiens and later moved to Lille, where he provided painting lessons and worked on portraits. He was deeply involved in the institutional side of art, founding the Academy of Drawing and Painting in Bergues. During his time there, he was tasked with documenting the paintings, sculptures, and engravings from the furniture of the Abbey of Saint-Winoc.

Delorge eventually settled in Dunkirk, where he continued to teach his craft. His historical legacy includes his opposition to the destruction of portraits of Louis XIV, painted by Charles Le Brun and Pierre Mignard, in Dunkirk on 20 Brumaire, Year II. While the exact date and location of his death remain unknown, his influence persisted through his teaching and his contributions to the regional art academies.
