Artistic Journey and Evolution

His formal education included studies at the ČVUT in Prague under Professor Oldřich Blažíček and at the UPŠ in Prague under Professor František Kysela. He was also a member of Umělecká beseda starting in 1941.
His technical approach evolved significantly over the decades. From the 1930s, he utilized techniques such as frotage and collage, creating object-paintings and small sculptures. During the 1940s, his work featured grotesque, fantastic figures of machines, exploring a poetic invention within a neo-figurative aesthetic. In the 1970s, his focus shifted toward landscapes from the Nová Paka region, which took on new meditative qualities.
