Snaží sa o sebestojivosť a hľadá nový štýl, ktorý odliší jeho diela od tradičných prístupov k maľbe a dekoratívnemu umeniu. Paríž ho privíta ako živú silu v oblasti ilustrácie a grafického dizajnu. Jeho talent a schopnosť vytvárať pôsobivé vizuálne koncepty rýchlo oslovia pozornosť.
Kľúčovým momentom jeho kariéry je prístup do tlačiarne, kde sa náhle objavuje potreba nového plagátu pre slávnu herečku Sarah Bernhardt v opere Gismonda. Mucha sa dobrovoľne zapojí do projektu a za dva týždne vytvorí plagát, ktorý okamžite získa obrovský úspech. Tento plagát, ktorý predstavuje Bernhardt v nádherných, elegantných šatách, sa stane symbolom začiatku Muchovej slávy a definuje jeho osobitný štýl – Art Nouveau, známy aj ako Jugendstil alebo Secession.
Spolupráca s Sarah Bernhardt bola pre Muchu zásadná. Vytvoril sériu plagátov a návrhov pre ňu, začínajúcom s Gismonda (1894), ktorá okamžite spustila jeho kariéru. Bernhardt si tak veľmi pochvaľovala výsledok, že uzavrela s Muchom šesťročný zmluvu na tvorbu plagátov a kostýmov pre jej predstavenia. Tento úspech mu zabezpečil rozsiahlu medzinárodnú pozornosť a prístup k najvysšším kruhám parížskeho spoločenského života. Mucha sa stal jedným z najpopulárnejších ilustrátorov a grafických dizajnérov v Paríži.
V roku 1900 Mucha získal významnú úlohu na Medzinárodnej výstave vo Paríži, kde dekoroval pavilóny Bosny a Hercegoviny a spolupracoval na ozdobení rakúskeho pavilónu. Jeho Art Nouveau štýl sa tak široko prezentoval a oslovil divákov z celého sveta. Tento úspech mu pomohol upevniť jeho postoj ako lídra v oblasti dekoratívneho umenia.
Počas svojho pobytu v USA, kde získal podporu od Charlesa Richarda Cranea, Mucha začne pracovať na monumentálnom projekte – *Slavickú epopej* (1912-1926). S pomocou finančných prostriedkov Cranea sa Mucha rozhodol vytvoriť sériu 20 historických plátien, ktoré zobrazujú históriu všetkých slovanských národov sveta. Tento rozsiahly projekt je považovaný za jeho najvýznamnejšie dielo a odráža jeho hlboké záujmy o slovanské kultúry a dejiny. Plátna boli prezentované v Prahe v roku 1928 na príležitosti desiatky rokov nezávislosti Československa.
Alphonse Mucha ovplyvnila kombinácia českých umeleckých tradícií s modernými európskymi prúdmi umenia. Jeho jedinečný štýl sa stal základom pre ďalšie generácie umelcov v Art Nouveau a Secessionistickom období. Jeho diela sú dodnes známe svojou eleganciou, zmysluplnosťou a schopnosťou vyjadriť emócie a myšlienky prostredníctvom vizuálnych prvkov. Mucha sa nechal inšpirovať Eva Prokopcovou, ktorá sa stala jeho priateľkou a spolupracovníčkou. Jeho diela sú dodnes vystavené v mnohých galériách a múzeách po celom svete.
