Fernando Botero: a life in paint

      Rané roky, rodina a vzdelávanie

      Umelecké vzdelanie a európsské cestovanie

Tieto roky v Európe boli povolaním medzi mestami ako Madrid, Florencia a Paríž, počas ktorých nasával váhu a prítomnosť klasického umenia.

Začal vytvárať sochy a prekladať ten istý pocit expanzie do bronzu a iných materiálov.

      Kľúčové diela a umelecké témy

Dancing in Colombia (1980) zachytáva živú scénu hudobníkov a tanečníkov, kde hrúbká vrstva farby dodáva postavám takmer hmatateľnú, ťažkú kvalitu.

      Neskoršie roky a smrť

Posledné dekády jeho života boli charakteristické neustálým pohybom medzi niekoľkými medzinárodnými centrami. Udržiaval si rezidencie v New Yorku, Paríži a Monaku, pričom sa často vraciava do Medellínu, aby si zachoval hlboké spojenie so svojimi korene.

      Odkaz a vplyv

      • The Death of Pablo Escobar
      • Mona Lisa, Age Twelve

Mimo Kolumbie možno jeho obrazy nájsť v Metropolitan Museum of Art v New Yorku. Práve tam nadobudne rozmer jeho postáv úplne iný charakter v kontexte tejto globálnej inštitúcie. Jeho bronzové sochy si tiež našli svoje trvalé domovy v verejných priestoroch, kde pozývajú ľudí k obchádzaniu v uliciach Florencie a Medellínu. Tieto ťažké, zaoblené tvary žijú na voľnom vzduchu, neustále vystavené svetlu a dynamike mestského života.
