During his training, he worked on stained glasses depicting Emperor Heinrich and the Basel Staff.
His travels took him to Munich and Paris, where he was impressed by the stained glass windows of the Chartres Cathedral. Later, Müller traveled to Italy with federal art grants, finding inspiration in the works of the Trecento and Quattrocento while staying in San Gimignano. He also lived in Colderio in the Ticino and Obino.
