Franz Molt began his path in the classrooms of the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, where he first learned the precision of lithography. His hands were trained early in the technicalities of the craft before he moved toward the more expansive studies at the Akademie der bildenden Künste. There, under the guidance of Josef Dobrowsky and later Ferdinand Andri at the Meisterschule, he refined a way of seeing that favored the essential over the ornamental. His work often moved between the clarity of the figure and the quiet pull of abstraction.
