A Life Between Sea and Canvas

Born in Ghent, he spent much of his life traveling the world as an officer on merchant ships, including the vessel L'Avenir and ships of the Compagnie Maritime Belge. Following the war, he studied at the Academy in Ghent before returning to the sea. In 1930, he ended his career as a long-distance officer to dedicate himself entirely to art, eventually settling in Antwerp.
