Štampu je moguće samo iseći, ali nikada povećati iznad dimenzija originalne slike, stoga format sa drugačijim proporcijama uzrokuje gubitak dela slike. Born in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, Antoon Derkinderen was a multifaceted visual artist whose work spanned painting, printmaking, stained-glass, and graphic design. His early education began at the Rijkskweekschool voor Onderwijzers, where he qualified to teach drawing and mathematics. He later studied at the Royal School of Applied and Visual Arts in 's-Hertogenbosch under J.Th. Stracké and received architectural drawing instruction from Lambert Hezenmans. His formal training continued at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam and the drawing academy in Brussels led by Jan Frans Portaels.
Derkinderen’s career was marked by a commitment to the concept of community art, seeking to unite arts and crafts through a craftsman model. In 1903, he founded the workshop De Zonnebloem in Laren, which produced large leadlights, including those for the stock exchange. He later served as the principal of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam from 1907 until 1925.
Derkinderen’s artistic output included significant monumental works and decorative designs. His first major assignment was the painting The Sacrament of Miracle, intended for the Begijnhof Chapel in Amsterdam. This work, which moved toward a more abstract style, was exhibited in the Art hall Panorama and at Pulchri in the Hague. He also achieved recognition for his murals in the 's-Hertogenbosch city hall, specifically the First Bosch wall and the Second Bosch wall.
His expertise in leadlight art is evidenced by several major commissions:
Additionally, he was a prolific illustrator, notably creating a luxurious edition of Joost van den Vondel's Gijsbrecht van Aemstel and illustrating works by Alphons Diepenbrock.
