Partridge’s formal artistic education began under the tutelage of Thomas Phillips, a celebrated portrait painter who instilled in him foundational principles of observation and technique. Exhibiting his debut painting, ‘Miss Foote in the Character of Lucilla,’ at the Royal Academy in 1815 marked a significant milestone, establishing him as an emerging talent within London’s artistic circles.
