Barrie’s artistic development was inextricably linked to her role as an educator. For many years, she served as head of art at Broughton High School in Edinburgh, a demanding yet rewarding position that allowed her to nurture young talent while simultaneously maintaining and refining her own practice. This dual commitment shaped her perspective – a deep understanding of the creative process combined with a keen awareness of its potential to inspire others.
