A Life in Eichstätt
Johann Chrysostomus Winck was a painter of the late Rococo period who primarily worked within the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt. Born in Eichstätt, Germany, he was the son of Augustin Winck, a corporal of the Prince-Bishop's guard, and Walburga Rindtfleisch. His family included six siblings, and he was married twice: first to Maria Theresia Franziska Dosch in 1747, with whom he had two sons, Johann Wolfgang Amandus and Josef Willibald, and later to Elisabeth Peschon in 1762.
By 1764, he was recognized as a citizen of Eichstätt and a holder of painting rights. His professional connections included his brother Christian Winck, who became a court painter to the Elector of Bavaria, and his involvement in recommending young artists to various workshops.
