Born in Donauwörth, Germany, Stephan Kessler was a significant Baroque painter of Tyrol. He established a successful painting workshop in Brixen, which he managed with great entrepreneurial skill. His reputation extended beyond South Tyrol, attracting clients in cities such as Graz and Vienna. His workshop was later joined by his sons, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
