Tim Biskup: A Surrealist Visionary of Memory and Design Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1967, Tim Biskup’s artistic journey began not within the hallowed halls of a traditional art school, but amidst the vibrant chaos of a childhood visit to the Centre Pompidou. This formative experience exposed him to the evocative works of Roberto Matta, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Jean Tinguely – artists who challenged conventional perspectives a
nd embraced surrealist aesthetics. Rather than pursuing a formal education, Biskup’s path was forged through hands-on experimentation and a deep-seated desire to simply *make* art, leading him to drop out of Otis College of Art and Design in 1988 after feeling stifled by the emphasis on conceptualization.
