      Bernardo Strozzi, sanat dünyasında il cappuccino ve il prete genovese isimleriyle de tanınan, İtalyan Barok döneminin en seçkin ressamlarından ve gravürcilerinden biriydi. 1581 yılında İtalya'nın Cenova kentinde dünyaya gelen sanatçının ilk eğitim yılları, Cenevizli mütevazı bir ressam olan Cesare Corte'nun atölyesinde geçti; Strozzi, 1596 yılına kadar yeteneklerini bu ustanın rehberliğinde şekillendirdi.
