      Meet the painter: Gabriel Metsu

      • The Woman taken in Adultery (1653)
      • Portrait of the family Hinlopen

1553 yılında ortaya koyduğu The Woman taken in Adultery, sanatçının dramatik temalarla olan erken dönem güçlü bağını gözler önüne seren görkemli bir eserdir. Zaman geçtikçe, 1559 yılına gelindiğinde dikkati A Musical Party eserindeki sosyal toplantılara ve insan etkileşimlerine kaydı.

1661 yılında resmedilen The Apothecary (The Chemist), ticaretin ve günlük etkileşimin o kendine has, sessiz anını ustalıkla yakalar.

Dünyayı gözlemleyişinde, çağdaşlarının eserlerinde yankılandığı görülen kendine has bir üslup vardır.

Atlantik'in ötesinde, New York'taki Metropolitan Sanat Müzesi, A Musical Party ve A Woman Seated at a Window gibi eserleriyle onun sanatsal mirasını korumaya devam etmektedir.
