A Life of Art and Performance
Albert Collins was an Australian painter, teacher, and actor who was born in New Zealand. His multifaceted career saw him transition from the classroom to the stage and the airwaves. As an educator, he taught drawing at Abbotsleigh School for Girls in Wahroonga and later at Redlands School in Cremorne. His creative reach also extended to the ABC radio, where he became a beloved voice for children. Known as "Joe," he co-presented the Children's Session and the Argonauts' Club, and he famously portrayed the title character in the serial The Wide-awake Bunyip.
