The Life and Artistic Journey of Attilio Cavallini
Attilio Cavallini was an Italian painter and exlibrist born in Noale, Italy. His formal training began as a student of Guglielmo Ciardi at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, followed by studies at the Academies of Florence and Siena. After returning to Venice to enter the atelier of Ferruccio Scattola, his career took him to Paris between 1910 and 1914. During his time in the French capital, he frequented the studio of John Singer Sargent and was part of the artistic circles of Montparnasse, sometimes signing his works as CAVALLINI Paris La Rotonde. Following his service as a volunteer during the first world war, he resumed his exhibition activities in Venice.
Artistic Themes and Notable Works
Cavallini was a painter of views, particularly focusing on Parisian and Venetian landscapes, as well as figure painting and still lifes. His repertoire also included sacred subjects, such as the triptych I Misteri Gaudiosi e San Giovanni Decollato. As an engraver, he produced etchings of Venetian scenes, including Scorcio di Venezia. His work has been featured in several prestigious exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale in multiple editions and various shows at Ca' Pesaro. One of his most representative works, Boulevard Saint-Denis, is held in the Fondazione Cariplo Art Collections.
