      Notable Works and Artistic Output

The hand of Charles Pauli shows its particular focus through a series of landscapes that capture specific moments in the natural world. In 1860, he produced Idylle, a watercolor on paper measuring 16,5 x 21,5 cm. This smaller work offers a quiet view, marked by a monogram and date in the bottom right corner. His later years saw a shift toward larger scales and different textures, moving from the delicate application of watercolor to the weight of oil on canvas.

By the late 1870s, his compositions grew in scope. He produced Marshland Landscape with a Hunter about 1878, a work that looks closely at the interplay of land and water. This was followed by Woodland in 1879, a piece that focuses on the density of the trees. These works suggest a steady observation of the Belgian landscape, recording the specific light and structure of the terrain.

His output continued until the end of his life. In 1880, he completed Herfstlandschap, an oil painting on canvas. Measuring 72,5 x 110,5 cm, this work carries a signature and date in the lower right. It remains one of his larger canvases, capturing the seasonal shift through the medium of oil.

Where to See the Works Today

His presence in public collections remains tied to the landscapes of Belgium. The Museum of Fine Arts Ghent (MSK) maintains two of his pieces within its holdings. Visitors to this institution can find his study of the woods in Woodland and his depiction of the wetlands in Marshland Landscape with a Hunter. These works sit within the museum's permanent collection, offering a glimpse into the specific textures of the natural world he chose to observe.

Beyond Ghent, his work is held by the Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van België. This collection includes Herfstlandschap, an oil painting on canvas. The presence of his work in these specific institutions allows for a direct encounter with the brushwork and the quiet, seasonal shifts he captured in his later years.
