Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, Siegen’s artistic journey began amidst the burgeoning artistic fervor of the Victorian era, shaping him into an artist deeply attuned to capturing the sublime beauty of nature—a hallmark of Romanticism's core tenets.

• Early Life & Training: Siegen received his formative artistic education at Düsseldorf Kunstakademie, where he honed his skills under influential instructors like Wilhelm Leibl and Anton von Haschel Bauer. These mentors instilled in him a meticulous approach to observation and a dedication to portraying the natural world with uncompromising realism.
• Style & Technique: His distinctive style characterized by luminous color palettes and subtle tonal gradations quickly established Siegen as an innovator. He favored oil paints on canvas, utilizing layering techniques—particularly *Verkehrstechnik*—to achieve remarkable atmospheric depth and textural richness. This meticulous method allowed him to convey the mood and grandeur of his subjects with unparalleled accuracy.
