It was here, amidst the challenges of diabetes and the eventual loss of both legs, that a serendipitous moment in 1969 ignited a creative fire that would consume his remaining years.
Encouraged by his daughter, Carroll, to attend an art class at the age of sixty, Mumma’s foray into formal training was met with harsh criticism.
