He also earned two National Film Awards as an actor and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his work in theatre. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema, was bestowed upon him in 2012, acknowledging his lifetime achievement and enduring legacy.
